Practice summary
Richard T. Sampson currently maintains a mediation practice in Edgewater, Maryland and is a member of the Maryland and District of Columbia Bars. He retired as Principal from the law firm of Semmes Bowen & Semmes after thirty years of service.
Upon his retirement, Mr. Sampson was the Chair of that firm's Labor and Employment Law practice group, representing management in all areas of labor and employment law.
Mr. Sampson became interested in ADR as a result of his participation in the settlement of many nationwide class actions involving complex issues as well and millions of dollars at risk. Later he was called in to act as a settlement “facilitator”; and Mr. Sampson has concentrated primarily upon mediation since 2012, having completed the 40 hour mediation training required by Maryland Rules of Procedure 17-104 and 17-106. Mr. Sampson has served as a court appointed mediator in dozens of cases and has completed more than 28 hours of continuing mediation training since 2012.
